Roads and Road Furniture
Our roads are defined to include all mobility paths within our Right of Way. These inculde road for vehicular movement itself, cycle lane, sidewalk, median within which stormwater drainage channels and ducts may be embeded, as well as road furniture such as traffic light, street light, directional signage, road and safety signs.
Right from our 2.5km access road our infrastructure is designed and being constructed to support city life, instead of just a residential estate. This is why we have facilities such as public car parks, of which at least one, will be multi-level (Pictures of access road, Bellmouth, multi-level car park).
Dedicated cycling lane
Significant effort and investment have been made in constructing dedicated cycle lane along major road arteries on Gracefield Island, ensuring that virtually all roads can be plied safely by cyclists.
Power
Uninterrupted power supply through a captive energy programme is at the heart of our infrastructure and utility plans. This service is so critical, that we have created specialist affiliate entities dedicated to the efficient operation and focused maintenance of this critical service. We are currently generating power using diesel for feedstock. As part of our sustainability plan, we plan to migrate to hybrid feedstock of gas/diesel during 2021.
We prohibit individual projects and subscribers from bringing in generators or any other power generating or supply equipment into Gracefield Island.
Water Infrastructure
Telecommunication
Gracefield Island may turn out to be the first truly smart city in Nigeria. We have established strong partnership with 2 major telcom companies and an international data carrier to provide both backbone telecom infrastructure and last mile services on Gracefield Island.
Even in these early days, there is island-wide WiFi coverage provided by a major telco in Nigeria, 9Mobile, who have installed a 4G mast on the island. Ducts are already in place within our road.
Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)
On the Gracefield Island, we are very intentional about sustainability. A key aspect of our sustainability objective is to reduce carbon emission within Gracefield Island by vehicular traffic and individual power generators among other common sources of carbon emission in Nigeria. In this wise, Gracefield Island is starting out as a Low Emmission Zone (LEZ) development, with intention to achieve the level of Ultra Low Emmission Zone.
On the Gracefield Island, we are very intentional about sustainability. In view of the above, we have integrated Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC) points into our urban planning to encourage and support the switch the Electric vehicles away from carbon emitting combustion engine vehicles. We are structured to provide regular and stable power to our residents and businesses on Gracefield Island and therefore, we prohibit the acquisition and use of individual power generators on our Island, as this is a widespread of Environmental pollution and emission in Nigerian cities. There are multiple measures in place to reduce and prevent carbon emission on Gracefield Island.
